How to Play 7-Card Stud Poker

    Last updated 1 year ago

The old classic 7-card stud poker game still draws plenty of players. It can be played with up to eight players and is great for home poker nights. It is also offered at many casinos.

This version of poker can be played high or high/low, meaning that either the highest hand gets the whole pot or the pot is split between the highest and lowest hands. You can only bet up to a pre-determined limit each round and you can never bet more than is in the pot. Players start with an initial bet, and then each receive two cards – one face up, one face down. The player with the highest card starts the betting. Players can call, or make an equal bet, raise, or fold. Four rounds, or streets, following, during which one card is dealt face up each time, and players decide to call, raise, or fold. The seventh card is dealt face down, betting follows, and the highest or highest and lowest hands take the pot.

    Last updated 1 year ago

Many dart throwers study the techniques of successful players and try to apply them to their own games. Why does this approach so seldom work? The answer is that the most important part of throwing darts is being comfortable. It is a highly individualized process, and only you can find your perfect stance.

Watch this video for advice from two pro dart players. They cover the basics of throwing a dart, including approaching the line and shifting to aim your shot. Product: Aluminum Shaft

The right dart shaft is key to your game. If you’re new to the world of darts, you should know that aluminum shafts are particularly popular among dart players. Are these the right kinds of shafts for you? Here is what you need to know about playing with aluminum shafts.

Aluminum shafts are made from solid aluminum, which makes them some of the most durable shafts available. In addition to their durability, many people favor aluminum shafts because they are available in a range of designs and colors. Though sometimes these shafts become loose, placing O-rings between the barrel and the shaft can help keep them secure.

At A-Z Darts, our knowledgeable staff can help you pick the right darts and accessories for your playing style. Let us help you get your home dart setup in order by calling (916) 993-3707. We also sell billiards accessories, home casino supplies, and everything else you need to turn your home into a recreation wonderland.

    Product: Nylon Shaft

    Last updated 1 year ago

If you’re interested in darts, you’ll need to decide which dart shaft is best suited to the way you play the game. Nylon shafts are one alternative that could be the right fit for you. Nylon shafts are particularly good for those who are new to darts. For this reason, they are one of the top-selling styles available.

One reason for the popularity of nylon shafts is their price; they are the least expensive shafts you can get. However, the price isn’t the only attraction. If you’re a casual player, these are the perfect shafts for you, as they throw easily and consistently. Nylon shafts can break under certain circumstances; for example, they’re probably not a good fit for you if you throw tight groups.

You’ll always choose the right dart shaft when you turn to the team at A-Z Darts for help. We also offer billiard tables, poker supplies, and more. Call our Sacramento store today to explore your game room options.

Breaking Down the Game of 9-Ball

    Last updated 1 year ago

9-ball is one of the most popular styles of billiards play. If you watch pool on television, this is the game you are most likely to see. Since the rules are simple, it is considered a good game for beginners. Here is what you need to know about 9-ball pool:

    Basic 9-Ball Rules

    • As the name suggests, this style of billiards includes nine balls. There are two ways to win the game. The first is to pocket every ball, starting with number one and going all the way up to nine, in order. The second is to sink the 9-ball on any turn. To start the game, balls are racked into a diamond shape. The 9-ball should be in the center of the diamond to lessen the odds it will be knocked in on the opening break. The balls are broken with the cue ball and players swap turns knocking down the balls in numerical order, while also trying to pocket the 9-ball as early in the game as possible.

    Optional 9-Ball Rules

    • Some players add additional rules to this game of billiards. The Three Foul Rule means that if you scratch or foul three turns in a row, you automatically lose the game. The Push Rule, another common addition, lets the non-breaking player shoot the cue ball anywhere on the billiard table for better positioning on their first turn.

    Rookie 9-Ball Mistakes

    • One of the biggest mistakes new players make is forgetting to put the 9-ball in the center of the diamond for the break. This lets more experienced players have easier access to the ball earlier in the game. Another is trying to hit the 9-ball when there isn’t a clear shot and ending up with multiple fouls to lose the game.
